Waffle Window Reopened--sort of

The Waffle Window is now open in its new (temporary) location inside Bread and Ink Cafe. Contractors are still giving estimates, and starting times for reconstruction have yet to be set, so we decided to just spring forward and do what we could with what we have. So come into Bread and Ink and see us!

Waffle Window, Interrupted

Under cover picture
On February 15, 2008, at approximately three a.m., a white Ford Expedition slammed into the corner near the Waffle Window and put us out of commission for the foreseeable future. Contractors are being contacted and insurance people are working things out among themselves, but there is no date set for beginning reconstruction. The blue door won't open because of the compression damage--there are cracks inside the waffle room, and the bricks outside are staying in place, but just barely.
I really miss seeing everybody, and I miss making waffles, but I am dreaming of lovely new toppings for the future and hoping for the best. Enjoy this lovely weather, and check back periodically for updates.

Welcome to the Waffle Window

View from Inside the Waffle Window
The Waffle Window is located on the 36th Avenue side of Bread and Ink Cafe on Southeast Hawthorne. It used to be a delivery door, but we painted it blue and put a red and yellow striped awning above and have been serving Brussels style pearl sugar waffles there since August of 2007.

Sample Menu:

Belgian Pearl Sugar Waffle 2.00

Chocolate Dipped Waffle 2.50

Nutella and Fresh Banana Waffle 3.50

Huckleberry Jam and Meyer Lemon Panna Cotta Waffle 3.50

Fresh Strawberry and Cream Waffle 4.00

Fresh Blueberry and Lime Curd Waffle 4.00

Orange Jewel: Housemade Orange Marmalade, Chocolate, and Creme Fraiche Waffle 3.50

Kobos Coffee 1.00

The menu changes seasonally, and everything is made fresh, on-premises, from real ingredients. We use as much local and organic produce as possible, because it is the best!
